Stop Reading and Start Proclaiming: An Advanced Seminar for Proclaimers of the Word

Reading scripture aloud is more than merely reading the words well.  Rather, we are called to proclaim fully all of the life within those words.  This afternoon seminar is open to those who attend the morning session or those who attended the basic workshop presented by Mr. Leal in February 2012.  In that workshop, practical acting techniques were introduced to turn reading into vibrant proclamation (but not performance).  The afternoon session will build on these skills and will add work on intention and emotion, and includes opportunities to practice the skills.  Participants will also learn how to make useful critiques and help each other in honing their skills.  Anyone who proclaims scripture to others—lectors, deacons, presiders, cantors, catechists, ministry leaders—will benefit from learning to make a proclamation really soar.

Open to those who completed the basic workshop, held either in February, 2012 or in the morning of Oct. 20.
