Fetal Echocardiography Online

  • Facilitated by Jennie Durant, BS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT
  • Begins Spring 2018
  • A six-week duration
  • Continuing Medical Education Units will be offered

Description: This course explains in detail the morphology and function of the fetal heart, and the sonographic protocols used for its evaluation.  A primary goal of the course is to reveal the relational hemodynamics of the fetal shunts in-utero that help it to survive throughout the pregnancy no matter how severe the congenital heart defect.  Examples of set protocols to evaluate the fetal heart anatomy, as well as its function, will demonstrate the importance of accurate 2-D, M-Mode and Doppler measurements. Physicians and sonographers who would like an advanced sonography course to learn the basic and advanced techniques in critiquing the fetal heart will benefit from taking this course.

This is course one of two on fetal echo. Course two will discuss complex heart diseases, their mortality rates, surgical fixes and their associated genetic disorders.
