Description: Introduction to, and training of, basic individual counseling skills including screening, intake, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, crisis intervention, referral, insurance and other core functions and aspects of case management. Emphasis is placed on developing proficiency in skills and attitudes necessary for individual counseling and effective case management. Students working toward the Addiction Counseling Certificate, counselors working in alcohol and drug treatment centers, and therapists who need training in this specialist area of counseling are especially encouraged to attend.
