Description Description: The history of alcohol and other mood-altering drugs in the United States. Systematic review of all major psychoactive drugs from a historical, social and pharmacological perspective, focusing on the bio-psychosocial factors that contribute to drug use and patterns and progressions of alcoholism and other drug dependency. Students working toward the Addiction Counseling Certificate, counselors working in alcohol and drug treatment centers, and therapists who need training in this specialty area of counseling are encouraged to attend. Teacher Bio Jack Kearney, MDiv, MAC, is a commissioner of the Los Angeles County Commission on Alcoholism. He also serves as president of Family Intervention Center & Services, a board member of the California Association for Alcohol/Drug Educators, a member of the L.A. County Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Commission. He is adjunct faculty in the Dept. of Human Services at Cypress College, and at the Training Institute for Addiction Counselors.
