| Description |
This course will explore many of the fierce and terrifying faces of Goddess in the Hindu tradition within Shakta and Tantric myth, history, ritual, and devotional contexts. We will closely examine tantric influences on the Durga Puja, where Goddess in her ferocious as well as benevolent aspects is widely venerated each autumn. |

Laura Amazzone is a Fulbright scholar who completed her Masters degree in Philosophy and Religion, with emphasis in Women's Spirituality and Asian Comparative Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2001. Laura's work focuses on the myths and rituals of the Shakta Tantra tradition and goddesses in India and Nepal . Laura's Book Goddess Durag: SAcred Female Power will be published by Hamilton Books, and imprint of University Press of America in Fall 2010. |
